Biodiversity and Habitat Creation Day

Format: In person training day held on a farm

Where: The Tree Barn, Greenfield Farm, Christmas Common, Watlington, Oxon, Oxfordshire ,OX49 5HG

When: Wednesday 19th June

Time: 10am arrival, 10.30am start – 3.30pm finish

Led by: Marek Nowakowski, Agronomist and Agricultural Ecologist

Cost: £25 per person (please note, lunch is not included)

What to expect from the day:

An integrated approach to biodiversity and habitat creation within a farmed landscape and Christmas tree plantations.

Those who attended the 2023 Competition Day will have heard Marek speak on our ‘Growing with Nature’ panel discussion. This training day gives you the opportunity to be guided through creating or expanding a range of complimentary habitats that could be sited with or near Christmas tree plantations. Information including what to sow, where to sow, subsequent management and the likely wildlife benefits.

Morning session - Barn based session will cover how to grow and manage a wildflower meadow, mix selection, sowing and management. A bit on bees and other pollinators. Site selection and how you can incorporate wildflower meadows into your plantation boarders or other areas on your farm. There will be plenty of time for discussion.

Afternoon session -Field based session including visiting an established wildflower meadow and some clover inter row Christmas sowing.

We have arranged for a caterer to attend, there will be hot/cold drinks, breakfast menu and lunch menu available to purchase on the day. The caterer can take card or cash.
